PECULIARLY
ILL
Atlanta, March 22 –
Col. A. E. Buck, United States marshal and a famous leader in the
Republican party of Georgia, lies critically ill at his home. His
illness is the result of a peculiar accident. While additions are
being made to the government building the marshal’s office is in a
building where the ceilings are low and the chandeliers hang to within
five feet of the ground. Buck, who is over six feet tall, was
walking along with his head down when he ran against a
chandelier. The blow pained him some, but after a few minutes he
had forgotten all about it. Yesterday he cane to the office and
after working awhile seemed to lose his mind. He was hurried home
and physicians have been with him since. His condition is
critical.Vernon Courier, (Lamar County, AL), March 27, 1890 Submitted by Veneta McKinney |
