RUSSELL CEMETERY
Russell cemetery, located east of the Southern Railway about half way between the towns of Sugar Valley and Hill City, is named for James T. Russell, formerly of Newton County, Georgia, who bought the land in 1851 from Jesse Miller. Mr. Russell died the following year, and his body was the first to rest in this quiet city of the dead. It is one of the oldest cemeteries in the county and is used still by descendants of those who lie buried there, some of whom are listed below:
