A. C. L. Engineer Killed T. J. Winn Meets Death in Crash at Ludowici. Passenger
Ludowici, Mar 14.—Engineer T. J. Winn Is dead and Fireman Claude H. Nettles is dying an a result of a rear-end collision   between   a Southern railway southbound passenger train and a freight train on the  Atlantic Coast Line tracks here this afternoon. Both are from Savannah. The passenger train crashed Into the caboose of the freight, the engine overturning and pinning Engineer Winn beneath it. He was badly scalded by escaping steam from a busted pipe and could not be extricated from his position for more than an hour.
Engineer Wm. and Fireman Nettles, who was badly scalded, were rushed to a Savannah hospital, where the former died tonight at 10 o'clock. Fireman Nettles was alive at midnight, but it was reported he might not survive the night.
Engineer Winn, who had been on a passenger run on the Southern for 32 years, is survived by his widow and one son, who were in Jacksonville at the time. The wreck is said to have been due to mistaken orders.

Ludowici Man Robbed Knocked out by Brass Knucks or a Club on Waycross Street
Knocked Out by Brass Knucks or a Club on Waycross Street,
April 4.—Neill McQueen, wealthy business man of Ludowici, here on a visit to relatives, reported to police; today that he was assaulted and robbed Saturday night on Brunnel street, a few blocks from the union station. He was struck with either brassknucks or some blunt Instrument in the face, receiving a painful gash. He was rendered unconscious and when he came to found a white man standing near him. McQueen's request for a carriage was compiled with. A small amount of change was taken. He had forgotten his watch when he left home.

Ludowici Soldier Expires William F. Gordon Dies at El Paso as the Result of Pneumonia
Ludowici Dec, 29—News received here this afternoon of the death this morning: of Trooper William K Gordon at El Paso Tex.
Trooper Gordon was 28 years old and a member or the Liberty Independent Troop, death came as an unexpected shock to his family, as it was not known that he was ill. The body will be sent home for burial.
Mr. Gordon's father, Lieut. T. P. Gordon, retired, was a member of the Liberty Independent Troop for twenty-eight years and had only recently gone to the border to be with his three sons until their return home. Mr. Cordon was a cousin of Trooper J. B. Gordon, a member of the same troop, who died at El Paso last week.

Ludowici Jail is Stormed by a Masked Mob
Ludowici Ga., Mar 13—A masked mob stormed the jail here at 2 o'clock this morning, taking two white prisoners out and seriously beating them The men were Bartow Middleton and Carlton Young.
They had been placed in jail here by Sheriff Wilkinson two hours before the jail was attacked, a charge of stealing cattle being placed against them. Many shots were fired as the men were taken out.

A pretty home wedding was that of Miss Julia Brown of Sterling, Ga., and Prof, L. Walker of Ludowici. Rev. T. J. Thomas performed the ceremony, wishing the couple much success on their new voyage of life, they left for a short stay at Ludowici, the home of the groom. Those motored to attend the wedding were Dr. and Mrs. W. T. Chapman. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Wright, Rev. and Mrs. T. J. Thomas, Dr. and Mrs. Mark Casea, Mr. and Mrs. Alex ?, Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Murphy and family, Misses Katie Murphy, Augusta Gibson and Cornelia Thomas.
