Marriage Announcements
Mitchell County, GA

HILL-JENNINGS
June 28 1914
The marriage at the First Baptist church in Pelham last Wednesday evening at 8 o'clock in which the contracting parties were Miss Mattie Maud Hill, of that place, and Grange Simmons Jennings, of Columbia, S. C, was one of the leading social events, of the season. The church was elaboratly decorated in pine boughs, bamboo, asparagus fern and daisies. The chancel in its decorations of rainbow shape formed a back ground for the bridal party dressed in gowns of rainbow hue, with hampers of daisies, and flower bonnets. The bride was robed in a becoming gown, with the conventional bridal veil. She carried a shower bouquet of bridal roses, and was given away by her brother. Col. J. J. Hill, who was met at the altar by the groom and his best man. Advancing a few steps forward, they faced the Rev. J. P. Lee, pastor of the church, who with the ring ceremony made them man and wife. A buffet luncheon was given by Mrs. J. M. Hurst, Jr., after which the couple left by automobile for Albany and Columbia, where they will reside.
