The Georgia Railroad is finished and in operation from Augusta to Madison, a distance of 184 miles. The continuation above Madison to the chartered limit at Decatur, a distance of 67 miles - where it will unite with the Western and Atlantic Railroad, by which it will be connected with the Tennessee river, is estimated to cost $1,315,091.90. The gross profits of the road in use for the year ending 31st of March, 1841, have been $158,225.11; expenditures $67,283.34; net profits $90,941.77 - equal to 6 per cent on the cost of the road now in use.
