The Georgia Railroad is finished and in operation from Augusta to Madison, a distance
of 184 miles. The continuation above Madison to the chartered limit at Decatur, a distance of 67 miles - where
it will unite with the Western and Atlantic Railroad, by which it will be connected with the Tennessee river, is
estimated to cost $1,315,091.90. The gross profits of the road in use for the year ending 31st of March, 1841,
have been $158,225.11; expenditures $67,283.34; net profits $90,941.77 - equal to 6 per cent on the cost of the

The handsome residence of Mr. G.B. Stovall, on Second street, is rapidly approaching
completion, and when finished it will be one of the most elegant homes in the city. [1
