ANDERSON
James C. Anderson, Sr., of Madison, father of Dr. James C.
Anderson, of Macon, died yesterday morning at 3 o'clock at the Macon
hospital, where he was taken ten days ago when he became ill. Mr.
Anderson follows his wife to the grave two months after her death.
The deceased was 73 years of age and was born and reared at Madison,
where he was one of the leading citizens of the community, having been
for many years tax collector of Morgan county. He was also one of the
largest planters of that county. News of his death not only causes
regret in Macon among the friends of Dr. Anderson, but came as a shock
to his "home folks" at Madison.
Besides Dr. Anderson, Mr. Anderson leaves two other sons, W.D. and L.C.
Anderson, both of Madison.
Mr. Anderson was a Confederate veteran, having fought throughout the
war as a member of the Third Georgia regiment, in the command of Gen.
John B. Gordon.
The body was taken to Madison yesterday afternoon for funeral and
interment.
