Harry Edwin Schoen

Harry Edwin Schoen, 85, of 405 N. Sampson, died at 6:19 p.m. Monday, Dec. 10, 2001, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Born Dec. 12, 1915, in Wilson, Mich., to Otto and Mable Boyd Schoen Sr., he married Alline Witherow on Nov. 14, 1943, in Chatsworth, Ga. She survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Terry (and Garth) Baecker of Pekin; one brother, John of Stephenson, Mich.; one sister, Dorothy Percifield of Spalding, Mich.; one grandson; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.

He had worked at Clay Equipment Co. in Morton for several years, retiring in 1979.

He was a World War II Army Air Forces veteran, serving in England.

He also was a life member of VFW Post 5921 in Morton, where he held several offices during his 55-year membership.

Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home in Morton. Two nephews, the Rev. Dr. Jerry Gladson of Marietta, Ga., and the Rev. James Balfour of Harbor Springs, Mich., will officiate. Visitation will be 90 minutes prior to services at the funeral home. Interment with honor guard will be in Hillcrest Memory Gardens in Morton.
