William Howell Shields

William "BILL" Howell Shields, age 75, of 127 Shannon Street, formerly of Chattanooga and Charlotte, passed away Monday, October 15, 2001 at his residence. 

Born in Eton, Georgia, Mr. Shields was married to Betty Lou Neubert Shields for 57 years. He spent his career in the commercial construction business and was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Madisonville, Tennessee and The Tellico Plains Masonic Lodge. 

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a son and daughter-in-law, Robert C. And Brenda F. Shields of Spartanburg; a daughter and son-in-law, Kathy S. and Dale Eckler of Lebanon, TN; a son, W. Christopher Shields of Dushane, Tajikistan; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; a sister, Adelle S. Glasgow of Roanoke Rapids, NC. 

Predeceased: parents, Robert C. And Rosalee Evans Shields; four brothers and two sisters. 

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
