Anna Jo Turner Mrs. Anna Jo Turner, 65, of Augusta, wife of Mr. James R. Turner, entered into rest, Wednesday, March 27, 2002, at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, March 30, 2002, at Aldersgate United Methodist Church with Dr. P. Alice Rogers officiating. Mrs. Turner will lie in state one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Westover Memorial Park. Mrs. Turner was born in Chatsworth, Ga., but she had resided in Augusta for more than 40 years. She was an active member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church where she sang in the Chancel Choir. She was a retired Associate Professor of Mathematics at Augusta State University, where she received the Outstanding Faculty Member Award in recognition of teaching excellence in 1990-1991. Mrs. Turner was a member of the Beta Lambda Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Honorary Society for Women Educators. Survivors include her husband, James R. Turner; sons, James Mark Turner and John Robert Turner; daughter, Elizabeth Turner Simpson; grandchildren, Stephen Mark Turner, Wesley Jordan Turner, Carrie Anne Simpson, John Andrew Simpson and Joseph Bryan Simpson. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, March 29, 2002 from 6 until 9 p.m. Active pallbearers will be Art Bryan, Fred Maynard, Wayne Jennings, Jim Brown, Carl Parker and David Dunn. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Aldersgate United Methodist Church Chancel Choir Fund, 3185 Wheeler Road, Augusta, GA 30909.
