D. D. White, Sr.

D. D. White, Sr., age 98, died Wednesday, April 13, 2005, at his residence in Rockdale, Texas, where he has lived since 1952. He was born September 2, 1906, in Murray County, Georgia, to Francis White and Ella (Brewer) White. He was a member of Meadowbrook Baptist Church of Rockdale, member of Rockdale Masonic Lodge. He was shift foreman in the smelter of ALCOA of Rockdale and took mandatory retirement in 1971. He married Carrie Lovingood August 3, 1928, in Maryville, TN.

Preceded in death by wife, Carrie White; parents; sons, David White, Jr., Gary White and Gilbert White; daughter, Joyce Allen; son-in-law, Leonard Allen; grandson, Carl Allen.

Survivors: sons, Waylon White and wife Jan of Baton Rouge, LA, Buddy Byrd and wife Alice of Irving, Texas; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral was 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 16, 2005, at the Meadowbrook Baptist Church in Rockdale. Dr. Steve Washburn officiated. Interment at I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Visitation was 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Pallbearers were Zachry Allen, Tony White, Casey White, Blake Allen, Jason White, Randy White.
