Maria Gador Encizo Y Catena Wilbanks

Maria Gador Enciso Y Catena Wilbanks, born September 29, 1910, in Darical (Almeria) Spain, the daughter of Francisco and Victoria Encizo y Catena, died November 11, 2007. 

Married at Guantanemo Bay, in Cuba, March 18, 1933, to 1st Lt. John Henry Wilbanks, USMC, of Chatsworth, GA. She has been a widow since January 16, 1944, when Lt. Wilbanks was killed in action, in the South Pacific, World War II. 

She is also predeceased by her son John Wilbanks and his wife, Sandra. 

Formerly living in Chatsworth, Dalton, then Decatur, GA, Mrs. Wilbanks has lived in Knoxville since Easter 2000, with her daughter, Kathy. 

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kathryn (Kathy) and Larry DeWine; daughter, Mary Ann (Terry) Lohre of Florence, KY; eight grandchildren; and seventeen great grandchildren including two unborn babies; sisters Rosa, Adela and Dolores; brother Antonio. 

Mrs. Wilbanks' life will be celebrated at a Mass of the Resurrection at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart of Jesus 11:00 a.m. Thursday with celebrant Fr. Vann Johnston. She will be buried with her husband at the National Cemetery in Marietta, GA following a Christian burial service at 11:00 on Friday morning, November 16, 2007. You may call the funeral home or the cemetery for directions. 

Mrs. Wilbanks enjoyed gardening all her life. She requested that no flowers be cut for her in death, but instead that prayers be offered for her soul. If anyone desires to send a memorial in her name, two have been selected to honor Mrs. Wilbanks' love for children and concern for their Christian education: St. Peter Claver Latin School for (Inner-City) Boys, 1208 Main Street, Over-the-Rhine, Cincinnati, OH 45202-7638 or Diocese of Knoxville Schools Office (memo: for tuition assistance), P.
