Newton County Georgia
Towns, Hamlets and Villages
Hayston, a village of Newton county,
is also a station on the Central of Georgia railroad, about six miles
southeast of Covington, and in 1900 reported a population of 49. It has
a money order postoffice, school, church and stores, and does some
shipping.

Mansfield, a village in the eastern
part of Newton county, is on the Covington & Milledgeville division
of the Central of Georgia railroad. It has a money order
postoffice, from which several routes supply mail to the surrounding
rural districts, and is a trading and shipping center of some
importance to that part of the county. It was incorporated by act of
the legislature on July 22, 1903.
