QUITMAN COUNTY, April 8. – The stockholders of the Grange warehouse met
at their office in Georgetown yesterday, and re-elected the old board
of directors. Mr. E. E. Varner was re-elected weigher. A dividend of 50
per cent, was declared. This warehouse never fails to pay a handsome
per cent.
The ladies at Georgetown have made over one hundred dollars on their
“church quilt.” The money will be expended on the church.
I see that the Georgetown echo has suspended publication. Do not know
whether it will be resurrected or not. The newspapermen at Cuthbert are
very anxious to get the legal advertisements. They were in Georgetown
Monday. I understand they have made arrangements to run a Georgetown
department in their papers.
Farmers are behind with their farm work. Cotton planting has not begun
in earnest yet, though I hear of several who commenced last Monday.
