Hospital Is
Destroyed By Fire in Cuthbert
CUTHBERT. Ga.. Feb.
20. (UP)
—Two patients were,
believed to have perished early today when fire destroyed Patterson's
hospital here.
Those missing were
Mrs. Allison Sealey, Sr., and Mrs. W. W. Jones, both of Cuthbert. All
other patients were carried to safety by hospital personnel.
Firemen were
hampered In battling the blaze, the origin of which was not determined
Immediately, because the mingle pump on the only available fire engine
did not create sufficient water pressure
The fire
departments of Americas. Dawson, and Albany, Ga., and Eufaula. Ala.,
responded to calls for help but arrived too late to prevent destruction
of the building.
The hospital was
the only one in this area. It was operated by Dr. J. C. Patterson, Dr.
W. G. Elliott, and Dr. R. B. Martin.
