Ellaville Ga., March 12.—Sheriff
Allen is having the jail guarded at night since some of the prisoners
broke jail. Jean Butts, a notorious negro boy, who has been a fugitive
from justice about three years, was arrested at Fort Valley by the city
marshal and returned to ElIavilIe jesterday evening. As soon as Butts
saw the officer he made a break for liberty, but a well directed ball
from the officer's pistol brought aim to a halt.
