Tattnall County,
Georgia
Tatnall County was formed in
1801, and has fine new Court House at Reidsville, but the old records
are very scarce.
In the ordinary’s office no wills could be found
previous to 1863, and the first book of marriage records begins
1832.
These are not indexed and are in several small books of about 100 pages
each.
There are several old books of Inferior Court records, that contain
administrations and accounts of estates, that are in bad condition and
should be copied.
A few wills are scattered through the early books of deeds, but are not
indexed with them.
The Clerk of the Court has a lady now employed in
copying all deeds with a book-typewriter, and those records bid fair to
be in good shape eventually.
