Remarks: In regard to minerals they do not generally abound, iron ore in small quantities inlain
in the pinelands. Gold has been ???? in the northern part of the county, but not in sufficient
quantities to induce operations, ????? of an excellent kind has been found in the southeastern
part of the county, and has been med??? by the potting manufactories in the neighborhood
to a limited extent.

Remarks: The peculiar form of disease that obtained most generally in this locality was Typhoid Fever, I
am induced to believe that it's existence can be traced to heaps of vegetable matter blended with animal excretions,
that uniformly were piled within a short distance of the dwellings of the inhabitants. Old dwellings emitting fetid
exhalations may be considered as a s? of cause of this disease..
PAGE 3
Family
status
Remarks: In this subdivision but few local causes of disease obtain, there is nothing surmountable in the
face of the country. The lands in a part of the county are oak and thick ivy in the remainder pine, and mixed with
other varieties. A portion of the is in a tolerabley fair state of cultivation, yielding good average crops. Some
other portions are worn down with excessive culture, and I say excessive carelessness.
