FORMER RESIDENT DEAD
     George H. Smith, former sheriff of Wood County and for many years a resident of Sherry and Milladore as well as this city, died suddenly December 29th at Bonners Ferry, Idaho, while being taken to a hospital for treatment for quinsy. Mr. Smith was formerly in the lumber business at Sherry and at Milladore, but went west a number of years ago and became associated with the Potlatch Lumber Co at Potlach, Wash. Mrs. Smith had been in this city a few weeks before Mr. Smith's death and was visiting relatives at Appleton when the news of his death arrived here. Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Jessie, of Spokane, and Kathryn, of Boston.

George C. Bacon, a native of this town, died of pneumonia at the home of his nephew, Clinton Simmonds, Bonner's Ferry, Idaho, Feb. 6. Burial was at San Diego, Calif., where he had made his home for several years with his sister, Jennie Bacon Simonds, until her death last September.

KILLED IN A ROCK SLIDE
Bonner's Ferry, Idaho, March 27-Three men were killed in a rock slide in a railroad cut here today during blasting operations. The dead are Arthu States, William Clark and Dervile Walters, all of Bonner's Ferry.

Mrs. Letta A. Cooper, 77, was killed by snow and ice that cascaded from the roof of her residence at Bonner's Ferry, Ida., as she was dislodging icicles.

GEORGE F. GLEED
     George Frederick Gleed, 71, died Sunday at his home in Bonner's Ferry, Idaho. Survivors are his widow, a son, Thomas Seattle, Wash.; a daughter, Mrs. John Hansen, Boise, Mont.; four grandchildren; give sisters, Mrs. Emily Simpson, Pasadena, Calif.; Mrs. Sophia Woodland and Mrs. Lillie Johnson Sidney, Iowa; Miss Annie Gleed and Mrs. John J. Taylor, Appleton. He was the second son of Thomas Gleed, who settled in Grand Chute in 1849 and lived there for 30 years before going to Idaho. The funeral will be held Tuesday in Idaho.

Bonners Ferry, Ida., Jan. 31-John Skann, 25, and Herman Herberg, 39, were killed today in a mine explosion at Leonia, Idaho, 25 miles east of here. George Wilson was injured.
