MAN ARRESTED AT GOLDEN WEDDING OF HIS PARENTS
Bozeman, Oct. 10-Cecil O. Newman, 29, who came here from Great Falls to attend a golden wedding anniversary party for his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.B. Newman, was arrested here yesterday for Canyon county, Idaho, authorities who will leave with him this morning for Caldwell. Newman said he would waive extradition proceedings.
Newman is wanted on a warrant charging the commission of a burglary in Canyon county in February of 1933. Sheriff Lovitt I. Westlake placed Newman under arrest when the man came to the sheriff's office after telephoning the officers that he understood they were looking for him.
Sheriff Westlake notified Sheriff Frank Piersall of Caldwell, and the Idaho officers and Oscar Peterson, police officer of Parma, Canyon county, came after Newman.
Sheriff Piersall said last night that for a time Newman was part of a gang of thieves who committed burglaries, stock thefts and other thievery in his county for several years. Newman, he said, left Canyon county some time ago, however, and has not been in on the recent maraudings of the gang for which eight men have now been sent to state prison.
George Newman, 47, said to be a brother of the man arrested here, was the last to go to prison. He was sent up last week, Sheriff Piersall said. All of the eight so far arrested have admitted their crimes, signed statements concerning them, and pleaded guilty to offenses alleged against them.
