October 29, 1881

A. Champagne returned last week to Challis from Canada. He stopped at Cheyenne, Wyoming, a few days, and reports having seen Frank Ayers, one of the murders of Noyes, at Champagne Station a short time ago, and for whom there is a reward of $500. Ayers would not tell where Green, his partner, was. He showed Champagne several hundred dollars in money. 

June 1, 1882

On the 18th ultimo., at Bayhorse, Tom Higgins (or Riggins) made an assault on Charles Leeper with a deadly weapon and was killed in the affray which followed. Leeper went to Challis and surrendered himself, had a hearing before Judge Jas. Burns and was discharged on the ground of justifiable homicide.
