A new post office has been
established at Rocky Bar, Alturas county, and Joshua McLaughlin appoint
P.M. What provision has
been made for the transmission of the mails we have not learned, but the
people of Alturas will not now be long without an U.S. mail.
It is gratifying to see that the Department is at last moving to
accommodate the mining regions in this Territory.
They have deserved it before.
Men who will prospect in and wring wealth from the mountains and
gorges of Alturas, deserve only less encouragement from the Government
