Jacob Ruff
Among the old pioneers was also Jacob Ruff, born in 1803 in Weiler in the place were he learned the trade of tinsmith. In 1838 he came to Quincy along with wife Margarethe nee Burg who was born 1815, also in Weiler. Jacob Ruff practiced the vocation many years and then later started a grocery store. He died at age 91 on October 3, 1895. His wife died September 15, 1896 at age 81. Surviving children of the couple are Mrs. Rose Kull, wife of saddler Johann E. Kull of Ottumwa, Iowa; Mrs. Caroline Weber, wife of Christ Weber in Quincy; Mrs. Elisabeth Urech, widow of Friedrich Urech, near Kirksville, Missouri; Mrs. Marie Keller, wife of Wilhelm Keller near La Plata, Missouri, and Mrs. Sophie Morgan of LaPlata, Missouri.
