Death Notices for 1849

ADAMS COUNTY
Death of Charles Gilman, Esq.
The Quincy papers announce the death by cholera, of Mr. Gilman, the Reporter of the Supreme Court. Mr. G. was a man of high legal and literary attainments and of great personal worth. The Quincy Herald thus announces his death:
“Mr. Gilman died of Cholera on Tuesday last, after a brief illness. His remains were followed to the tomb by the Odd Fellows and a large concourse of citizens on Wednesday morning. Mr. Gilman was one of our best citizens. In his death our city in many respects, has sustained an irreparable loss.
