One would have to wonder about these "miracle" cures that were so predominant back in the late 1800's and early 1900's.  Notice some of the ingredients.

I am going to briefly state what is in these ingredients and what they were used for. The first one states an appendicitis oil cure. It looks like you heat a rag as hot as you can stand itand then drop turpentine on the affected parts and place the heated rag over the affected part and continue to do this until relief is felt. My question is...Turpentine?? Then it mentions to cover the entire bowel area with a cloth that has been wrung out of kerosene. There is also a mention of a liver pill every night for a few days. This is supposed to deter a doctor from performing surgery.
