EAST CAPE GIRARDEAU

Alexander County/Illinois Genealogy Trails

The 1876 map shows that East Cape Girardeau was a fairly large platted town. The Post Office was established July 9, 1874, discontinued almost 10 years later then reestablished April 1, 1887 only to be discontinued May 31, 1913.
The town is once again several hundred people with elected officials and a community building. They receive their mail through the McClure post office.
