ELCO BAND

Elco had a band for a number of years that performed at parades, concerts, civic events, holiday, etc. This photo of the Elco Band was taken in Elco about 1904-1906. The only band member that is identified is the drummer with his small drum attached to his waist. He was John A. Thompson, son of the Civil War soldier, John T. Thompson. John A. was born in or near Elco on August 5, 1881. He was positively identified by his son, Robert "Bobby" Thompson, who is 79 years old and still lives south of Mill Creek, just north of the county line.
