Anderson Family Cemetery

divider for new section

The Anderson Family Cemetery is located on private property on the original Anderson Family Homestead in Howell Hollow in North Calhoun county.

As you drive down Howell Hollow from Hwy 96, you will see a hand-made sign at the end of a driveway for the "Anderson Homestead" (on the left hand side of the road). The property is still owned by an Anderson descendent, Larry Anderson. Stop at his home and ask for permission and specific directions to the cemetery.

The cemetery is located high on a hill and is still being used as a burial location by Anderson family members. It is very well maintained by the family and is in a beautiful, peaceful location surrounded by mature trees. Even though the cemetery is best reached by a truck or a 4-wheel drive vehicle, if you are physically able, you can walk. Be warned: the hill is steeper than it looks at first glance

The entrance to Anderson Cemetery. It is located at the top of a steep hill in Howell Hollow on the farm of Larry Anderson as of Jan. 30, 2012.

One of two very large white oak trees within the cemetery. This is a very pretty cemetery that has been well maintained by the Anderson family through the years. A porch-type swing has also been placed at the cemetery for resting. (You'll need to rest after climbing the monster of a hill to get there!)
