WOLFE, Rosa (Lambert)
was a guest of honor at a dinner given in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Carroll on Sunday, it being her 78th birthday. Mrs. Wolfe, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Lambert, was born near Locust Grove, February 10, 1857. She attended her first school in the district. She was married February 12, 1879 to Charles Wolfe, and has always lived in Carroll and York Townships. They were the parents of three children, Leroy, who died in early manhood, Ethel Mae, who died in infancy, and Edna, now Mrs. Raymond Carroll. Mr. Wolfe died about 12 years ago. Other guests present were her grandchildren, Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Dearringer and great-granddaughter, Audrey Dearringer of Morrison.
(From the Thomson Review, Thomson, Illinois, Thursday, February 14, 1935)
Contributed by Alice Horner: Locust Grove was a small area south and east of Wacker (Hickory Grove) in Mount Carroll Township, possibly in Section 27. There was a country school there.
