Corporal Ralph R. Leigh Son of George and Emma Leigh, born at Morrison, Illinois July 18, 1893; inducted for service at Camp Grant, Illinois September 19, 1917 serving overseas 12 months with 33rd Division participating in Occupation of Vaden Line 3rd Corps B. E. F. , Verdun Sector, Defensive of Troyon-sur-Meuse Sector, Amiens Sector, Bois de Forgess, Bois de Chaume and Bois de Plot Chene Offensives. Quite badly gassed. Served in the Army of Occupation at Luxembourg.


Sergeant 1CL Leigh W. Ludwick Son of W. A. Ludwick, born at Mt. Carroll, Illinois in March 1895; volunteered for service at Freeport, Illinois October 19, 1917 and served in the Cooks and Bakers School, Kelly Field, Texas.


1st Lieut. Harry Samuel Mahood Son of James Mahood, born at Mt. Carroll, Illinois August 1892; volunteered for service at Ft. Sheridan, Ill. April 8, 1917; served overseas 20 months with 1st Army Engineers and participated in the St. Mihiel and Meuse-Argonne Offensives.












Private John Philo Mahood Son of Mrs. S. L. Mahood, born Mt. Carroll, Jun 1899. Volunteered at Jefferson Barracks, MO., Mar 15, 1918. Served in Co. B., 4th U. S. Inf., 3rd Div. at battles of Chateau-Thierry, Meuse-Argonne, and St. Mihiel. Killed in action Oct 14, 1918 in Meuse-Argonne offensive.

Private Frank McCray Son of John McCray, born at Mt. Carroll, Illinois February 28, 1888; inducted for service at Savanna, Illinois May 25, 1918 and served with the Infantry at Camp Gordon, Atlanta, Georgia.

Corporal Pierce William McKee Son of Chas. W. and May Pierce McKee, born at Mt. Carroll, Illinois in January 1893; volunteered for service at Chicago, Illinois December 3, 1917; served nearly 15 months overseas with Co. D. 439 Supply Train, participating in the Aisne-Marne, Champagne-Marne, St. Mihiel and Meuse-Argonne Offensives.










Sergeant 1CL Don J. Merritt Son of Elmer W. and Elizabeth Merritt, born at Mt. Carroll, Illinois June 19, 1894, volunteered for service June 30, 1917 at Broadwater, Nebraska, serving 9 months overseas with Co. F. 109th Engineers, building hospitals at Mesnes Hospital Center, France.

2nd Lieutenant Walter D. Merritt Son of Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Merritt, born at Mt. Carroll, Illinois January 31, 1896; volunteered for service at Broadwater, Nebraska, May 30, 1917; served with 109th Engineers.


Corporal George Francis Messmer Son of John and Bertha Messmer, born at Savanna, Illinois May 28, 1895; inducted for service at Savanna, Illinois May 4, 1918; served overseas 11 months in Co. D. 55th Infantry, 7th Division on the Puvenelle Sector and Meuse-Argonne.











Cadet Theodore Miles Son of Joseph S. Miles, born at Mt. Carroll, Illinois November 13, 1895; volunteered for service at Chicago, Illinois January 26, 1918. Served in the Aviation as Cadet Flyer. Prior to Mr. Miles enlistment in the American Army he served 6 months overseas in 1917 with the American Field Service as an ambulance driver. Mr. Miles was decorated with the Croix de Guerre by the French Government during his service with the French in 1917.










2nd Lieut. Owen P. Miles - no photo - Son of Joseph S. Miles, born at Mt. Carroll, Illinois December 14, 1896; volunteered for service at Camp Grant, Illinois April 26, 1918 and served in the Field Artillery.

Sergeant William Miller Son of John and Mary Miller, born near Mt. Carroll, Illinois March 14, 1893; inducted for service at Savanna, Illinois June 14, 1918; took course as Mechanic at the Sweeney Army Motor School, showing marked adaptability as a motor mechanic and was placed as an instructor on motors in this school until the signing of the Armistice, when he was transferred to the M. R. S. U. No. 305, Motor Transportation Corps as a Sergeant.

Private 1CL John P. Morgan Son of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Morgan, born at Mt. Carroll, Illinois June 5, 1890; inducted for service at Camp Grant, Illinois September 23, 1918, serving 13 months overseas with Co. E. 162nd Infantry, 41st Division doing guard duty at Winchester and Liverpool, England.

Private William F. Morhardt Son of Mt. and Mrs. Christian Morhardt, born at Stockton, Illinois February 18, 1894; inducted for service at Savanna, Illinois June 26, 1918; served 4 months overseas in the Infantry.












Corporal Ray T. Moyer Son of Moses M. and Grace Moyer, born at Mt. Carroll, Illinois December 1895; volunteered for service at Freeport, Illinois November 6th, 1917; served thirteen and a half months overseas with 1st Air Park participating in Champagne-Marne Defensive, Aisne-Marne, St. Mihiel and Meuse-Argonne Offensives. Served in the Army of Occupation at Weissenthurm, Germany.

Private Carol E. Myers Son of Mrs. Izora Myers, inducted for service April 29, 1918; served overseas 8 months with headquarters Co. 34th Infantry, 4th Division, participating in the Meuse-Argonne Offensive, where he was gassed and wounded 3 times October 29, 1918 and taken to the Field Hospital, thence to Toul, Angers, Base Hospital No. 27, Base 85, to Savanny, and then to Brest for transportation to the U. S. where he landed March 19, 1919 and was taken to Greenhut Hospital, N. Y., to Marine Hospital, Chicago and then to Camp Grant Hospital, Rockford, where he was discharged April 5, 1919


O. W. Orr Of Mt. Carroll, volunteered for service in the U. S. Navy December 15, 1917 at Chicago, Illinois, left New York on October 13, 1918 on U. S. S. Destroyer Murray for Brest, France, remaining there until May 11, 1919; returning to U. S. May 22, 1919 and received discharge at Great Lakes, Illinois July 26, 1919.










Cook 1CL William E. Patterson Son of James F. and Emma Patterson, born at Mt. Carroll, Illinois June 16, 1889; inducted for service at Camp Grant, Illinois October 3, 1917; served 12 months overseas with Intelligence Section, 2nd Army Corps and _________ Division, participating at St. Mihiel and Meuse-Argonne Offensives. Was slightly gassed. Served in the Army of Occupation at Treves, Germany. (Note: The page is smudged and unreadable in the place where the blank is.)

Private Leigh N. Patton Son of William and Martha A. Patton, born at Mt. Carroll, Illinois December 6, 1898; volunteered October 6, 1918, in the Student Army Training Corps at University of Illinois at Urbana.


Private Edward Phillips Son of Mr. and Mrs. Hugo Phillips. Born at Mt. Carroll, Illinois, June 18, 1895; inducted for service at Savanna, Illinois February 23, 1918 and served 13 months overseas with 311th Supply Co.











Neptune S. Phillips, Jr. Son of Mr. and Mrs. George Phillips, born at Mt. Carroll, Illinois inducted for service at Camp Grant, Illinois and served with Co. I. 342nd Infantry.


Private Ernest A. Poffenberger Son of Dan and Susan Poffenberger, born at Mt. Carroll, Illinois May 30, 1896; inducted for service at Mt. Carroll, Illinois October 3, 1917; served 12 months overseas with the 33rd Division, participating in Meuse-Argonne, Verdun Sector, Albert Sector, Troyon Sector and Bois Sector. Served in the Army of Occupation in Luxembourg.


2nd Lieut. Paul Ashbrook Pratt Son of E. Clinton and Clara Schaeffer Pratt, born at Thomson, Illinois November 2, 1895; volunteered for service at Beloit, Wisconsin June 7, 1917; serving 21 months overseas in the Army Signal Schools, 5th Field Signal Battalion and 7th Corps Headquarters at Paris and Langres, France. Served in the Army of Occupation with 3rd Division at Andernach, Germany.
