Mr. and Mrs. John Sauer of Milledgeville, parents of Mrs. William Castle of Dixon, observed their golden wedding anniversary at an open house at their home yesterday. Friends and relatives from Chicago, New York, Savanna, Mt. Carroll, Sterling, Chadwick, Polo and Milledgeville coming to the Sauer home numbered 139.
Gold colored decorations were used throughout the home with floral arrangements being made of bronze and yellow chrysanthemums. A cake trimmed in gold centered the dining table which was lighted by yellow candles.
Mr. and Mrs. Sauer who is the former Kathryn Tripp were both Carroll county residents and were married in Mt Carroll October 16, 1897, and lived on a farm near Chadwick until he retired. They have six living children, Mrs. Castle, Mrs. Lloyd Mackay of Milledgeville, Garfield Sauer of Milledgeville, Mrs. Joe Hess of Chicago, Mrs. Ernest Dollinger of Mt. Carroll and Mrs. Robert Fishbach of Sterling, all of whom were present for yesterdays celebraton. Two sons are deceased.
