Carroll County Biographies JAMES M. HUNTER Mt. Carroll IL Born Northumberland Co., Pa., Dec 9, 1831, and lived there until 20 years of age: moved to Centre Co. and studied medicine wiih Dr. John P.Gray, at Bollefonte, Pa.; he studied law wiih Judge Lynn, and was admitted to the bar in 1854; practiced law there three years: came to Illinois., to Jo Daviess Co., in 1857; practiced law there five years; came to Mt. Carroll in 1862 and has practiced his profession here for 15 years; he represented the Counties of Jo Daviess, Stephenson and Carroll in the State Senate, under the new constitution; married Miss Margaret C. Baker, of Jo Daviess Co. in 1858; she died, 1863; they had three children: Mary Imogcuc. Italic and Margaret C; married Mary J.
