Thomas Madsen was born on February 12, 1878 at Savanna, Illinois; he died on January 30, 1959. He was the son of Axel Peter and Lucinda King Madsen of rural Savanna.

On August 20, 1903, he was married to Bula Landrum Krell. She was born on August 21, 1881, at Savanna, Illinois; she died January 22, 1973. She was a daughter of George Henry Krell and Wilmina Land.rum Krell, Savanna.

T.P. Madsen graduated from the Savanna High School in 1895. He attended college in Effingham, Illinois-- studied photography. He was a teacher in the Chestnut Park School in Savanna from 1897-1900. With his brother, Albert Madsen. he opened the Madsen Bros. Studio in 1903; he continued in this business until his death.

He served as Superintendent of the Savanna Methodist Sunday School over 50 years
