He married Myrtle Bashaw in Freeport, Stephenson Co IL 24 May 1899.

daughter of Thomas Bashaw and Catherine (Flora) Thomas (Marriage license says Flora A. Haynes 23 October 1872). Myrtle died 24 July 1946 in Mt. Carroll, Carroll Co, IL, at 69 years of age. Her body was interred in Mt. Carroll, Carroll Co, IL, Oak Hill Cemetery.
Myrtle was found in the 1880 census for Mt. Carroll, Carroll Co, IL living with her parents. Her father was a farmer who came from Canada. Her grandparents were French and spoke very little English. Her father lived in Vermont at age three and moved with his parent to Illinois around 1853. She was found with her husband in the 1900, 1910, 1920 and 1930 censuses for Mt. Carroll. Her cause of death was a cerebral hemorrhage.
Jesse spent most years on the family farm in Mt. Carroll, Carroll Co, IL after leaving school. He was in Chicago for two months helping his uncle W.H. Colehour in 1891. He lived across the road from his father's farm after his marriage. On 1 March 1901 he moved onto his father's farm, agreeing to rent. In 1909 he bought the Jacob Hartman farm. He adopted two children from the Orphans Home in Chicago around this time. For a number of years he sold lightening rods. In 1900 he also owned forty acres of timberland.
Jesse was listed as age two in the 1870 census for Mt. Carroll. He was found in the 1880 census for Mt. Carroll, listed as age 12. He was found in the 1900 census for Mt. Carroll, listed as a farmer, age 32, married for one year and renting his farm. In the 1910 census for Mt. Carroll Jesse was age 42, married 10 years and owned his own farm. He was found in the 1920 census, again in Mt. Carroll, listed as age 52 and owning his own farm. He was listed as age 62 in the 1930 census for Mt. Carroll living with his wife and his daughter's family.
From his obituary: "Jesse Colehour, resident of Preston Prairie, succumbed at East Moline Saturday at 9 a. m., following an extended illness. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the home, in charge of the Rev. R. H. Seitner, and interment was made in Oak Hill cemetery. Jesse Colehour, third son of Samuel and Mary Wood Colehour, was born on the Colehour homestead, just west of Mt. Carroll, on December 22, 1867, and died April 21, 1934, at the age of sixty-six years, three months and twenty-nine days. He was united in marriage to Myrtle Bashaw, May 24, 1899, at Freeport, Illinois. To this union was born one daughter, Jessie M. whom death claimed in infancy. Survivors are his wife, a foster daughter, Mrs. Spencer Henderson, and a son, Robert Colehour, both of Mt. Carroll, two brothers, Dr. S. P. Colehour of this city and Frank E. Colehour of Rockford, besides numerous nephews, nieces and other relatives. Mr. Colehour's father, mother, and three brothers, John, George and Fred preceded him in death. Mr. Colehour Had been an invalid for the past six years and death came as a release from years of suffering. The deceased always followed the occupation of farming, except for a few years, when he was employed in a Chicago post office. He was a retiring, unassuming personality, and firm in his convictions, for what he believed to be right." His cause of death was chronic myocarditis.

He married Julia Agnes Rosenfield in Moline, Rock Island Co, IL, 24 December 1903. Julia was born in IL circa 1883. Julia was the daughter of Samuel A. Rosenfield and Martha [Mattie] Schermerhorn. She married William Taylor before 1920. Julia died circa 1962 in IL. Her body was interred in Moline, Rock Island Co, IL.
Julia had two children with her first marriage to George W. Colehour. After his death she was married to William Taylor. She was listed as Julia Colhour, age 26, in the 1910 census for Moline, Rock Island Co, IL living with her two children in the household of her parents. She was shown as a widow with two living children. She was listed as age 36 in the 1920 census for Rock Island, IL living with her second husband and two children. George lived on the home farm in Mt Carroll, Carroll Co, IL until 1890. He went to Ashton, Illinois for a few months. Attended school in Mt. Carroll and was a member of the Baptist church there. Work was either farming or in a creamery. In the spring of 1897 he went to a place near Morrison, Illinois to work on a farm. He returned home in January 1898. Went to Springfield, Illinois intending to join the army but was rejected due to a defective eye. He went to Melette, South Dakota in August 1898 and returned to Mt. Carroll in December 1899. He went to Rockford, IL in March 1900 and from there to Rock Island, IL. He worked at carpentry and moved to Moline, IL. He was listed as age nine in the 1880 census for Mt. Carroll, IL living with his parents. He was listed as age 37 in the 1910 census for Hampton Twp, Rock Island Co, IL living at the Watertown State Hospital, shown as married for 12 years.

He married Myrtle May Kinney in Chicago, Cook Co, IL, 12 April 1906. They were married at the Baptist parsonage on LaSalle Street. Myrtle was born in IL 16 March 1877. Myrtle was the daughter of George Albertus Kinney and Ann Kingery. Myrtle died 9 June 1950 in Mt. Carroll, Carroll Co, IL, at 73 years of age. Her body was interred in Mt. Carroll, Carroll Co, IL, Oak Hill Cemetery.
She was listed as Mirtie May, age two, in the 1880 census for Salem Twp, Carroll Co, IL living with her parents. Myrtle was found in the 1910 census for Salem Twp, IL as age 33, married 4 years, mother of two children. She was found in the 1920 census for Mt. Carroll, Carroll Co, IL as age 42. Her father was born in NY and her mother in PA according to the census. She wsa listed as age 53 in the 1930 census for Mt. Carroll living with her husband and two sons. Samuel was raised on the family farm at Mt. Carroll, Carroll Co, IL attending rural as well as public schools.
He took a medical course in the National Medical College of Chicago, graduating with honors in 1899. He located in Mt. Carroll the same year, opened an office in the Kraft Kessler building and built up a practice. He later moved his practice to the site of the Mobil gas station. He held the office of county Physician for four years and was appointed Carroll county's Examiner of the Blind. He was a most genial man, with many friends. His practice was large and extended over many parts of the county. In 1917 he offered his services to the United States during World War I and was sent to France. He became a Colonel in the Medical Reserve Corps. He returned to Mt. Carroll in 1919 and opened his practice where the Marth variety store once stood.

His occupation was shown as physician. He was listed in the 1910 census at Salem Twp, Carroll Co, IL as age 35 living on Strickler Avenue. He was found in the 1920 census for Mt. Carroll, age 43, owned his own home and was a physician. He was listed as age 54 in the 1930 census for Mt. Carroll living with his wife and two sons. Samuel's cause of death was a cerebral hemorrhage.

He married twice. He married Margaret Marietta Snyder circa 1918. Margaret was born in Stillman Valley, Ogle Co, IL 12 February 1898. Margaret was the daughter of Daniel Snyder and Wilhelmina Kennawell. Margaret died June 1928 in Rockford, Winnebago Co, IL, at 30 years of age. Her body was interred in Winnebago, Winnebago Co, IL, Winnebago Cemetery.
Margaret was listed as age 26 in the 1920 census for Rockford, Winnebago Co, IL living with her husband, Francis Colehour. Her parents were listed as being born in NY and PA. She died of kidney disease. It is said that she lost nine children at birth.
He married Irene Alberta Langholff in Rockford, Winnebago Co, IL, 3 December 1930. They were married at the First Congregational Church by Dr. Allen. Irene was born in Ogle Co, IL 8 January 1910. Irene was the daughter of Ferdinand Albert Langholf and Estelle Rachel Babb. Irene died 20 August 1986 in Rockford, Winnebago Co, IL, at 76 years of age. Her body was interred in Rockford, Winnebago Co, IL, Greenwood Cemetery.
Irene was the second wife of Francis Harwood Colehour. They had two children together, one being adopted. Irene died of heart disease. Irene's paternal grandparents were Johann Heinrich Langholff and Louis Eliza Thews. Her great grandparents were Johann Peter Langholff and Charlotte Schmidt.
Francis was listed as age five in the 1900 census for Rockford Twp, Winnebago Co, IL. He was listed as age 15 in the 1910 census for Rockford. He was listed as age 25 in the 1920 census for Rockford, occupation of insurance agent. He was renting a home at 709 N. 1st Street. He was listed as age 35 in the 1930 census for Rockford living with a son and a daughter and working as an agent. When Francis was about six years old he lost a leg in an accident with a street car. He died from pancreatic cancer. Francis and his two wives raised two natural children and three adopted children.

MacLaren and Gertrude Oberg. Mae died 3 November 2001 in Rockford, Winnebago Co, IL, at 88 years of age. Her body was interred 8 November 2001 in Rockford, Winnebago Co, IL, Greenwood Cemetery.
From an obituary: "Mae C. Colehour, 88, of Rockford died at 8:28 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, 2001, in OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center emergency room after a lengthy illness. Born April 28, 1913, in Rockford, daughter of Charles R. and Gertrude Oberg MacLaren. Lifelong Rockford resident. Married Harwood G. Colehour in Rockford on Jan. 12, 1946. She was formerly employed in sales at D.J. Stewart & Co. Member of Trinity Lutheran Church, First Evangelical Free Church, Rockford Woman's Club and missionary groups and many circles at Trinity. Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Harwood; sons, Grant (Terrie) Colehour and Charles (Mary) Colehour, and grandson, Robert; and sister, Jane Stenberg, all of Rockford; nephews, Barton (Ella) Stenberg and William (Kristy) Stenberg; eight great-nieces and -nephews. Predeceased by parents; and uncle and aunt, William and Marie Stenlund. Services at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, in Fred C. Olson Funeral Chapels Ltd., East Chapel, 1001 Second Ave., with the Rev. Brian Ericksonof First Evangelical Free Church officiating. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery. No visitation."

His obituary: "Charles H. "Chuck" Colehour, 50, of Rockford died Friday, Aug. 15, 2003, in OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center of injuries sustained when trimming trees in his yard. Born Sept. 6, 1952, in Rockford to Harwood G. "Woody" and Mae (McClaren) Colehour. Chuck graduated in 1970 from Guilford High School and then graduated from Eastern Kentucky University in 1974 where he was the president of his beloved fraternity, Sigma Alpha Epsilon. Chuck was a captain in the U.S. Army, serving with the 82nd Airborne where he trained paratroopers and was also the aide to the general. He was an English instructor in Spain shortly after leaving the Army. Most recently he was a driving instructor with Drive Right. He was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where he served on many committees. He was an avid listener and frequent caller on WNTA. Survivors include his father, Harwood "Woody" Colehour of Rockford; one brother, Grant (Terrie) Colehour of Rockford; nephew, Robert Colehour of Ames, Iowa; aunt, Jane Stenberg of Rockford; cousins, Bart (Ella) Stenberg and their children, Chad, Stacey and Craig; cousins, Bill (Kristy) and their children, Ben, Mathew, Janae, Josh and Dan; along with a host of good friends. Predeceased by his mother, Mae in 2000. Services at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 19, in Trinity Lutheran Church, 200 N. First St., with the Rev. Theodore Frederick3 Colehour (Frederick Henry2, Samuel Phillip1) was born in Mt. Carroll, Carroll Co, IL 13 January 1902. Theodore died 25 December 1981 in Mt. Carroll, Carroll Co, IL, at 79 years of age. His body was interred 28 December 1981 in Mt. Carroll, Carroll Co, IL, Oak Hill Cemetery.
He married Jane [Mary] Graham in Savanna, Carroll Co, IL, 6 July 1932. Jane was born in Chicago, Cook Co, IL 28 July 1908. Jane was the daughter of George Wellington Graham and Maude May Booher. Jane died 31 December 1984 in Savanna, Carroll Co, IL, at 76 years of age.
Jane's parents moved from Chicago to Dallas, TX in 1909. Her father was enumerated in the 1910 census at downtown Dallas and her brother George was born there in 1910. When her father entered the military service to serve in WWI, the children were sent away to private schools while her mother returned to live in Chicago. Jane attended the private Episcopalian School in Burlington, New Jersey "St. Mary's Hall". While attending, she was listed as living with the family of the very wealthy Edwin Vanderpool (per the 1920 census). The Vanderpools and Graham ancestries both go back to Virginia... so perhaps there was some family tie from generations back. After Jane finished school, she returned to Savanna, Illinois where here father was Commander of the Military installation. There she met and married Theodore Frederick Colehour. She applied for her Social Security card while living at 2911 E. Waverly in Tucson, AZ.
Jane's maternal grandparents were James and Sarah/Sadie (Kitzmiller) Booher of Van Wert, Ohio. Her great grandparents were Robert and Elizabeth Booher and Henry and Mary Ann (Shook) Kitzmiller. Her second great grandparents were James and Eliza (Large) Booher and Jacob Unger and Nancy Ann (Kelley) Kitzmiller. Her third great grandparents were John and Nancy (Ryan) Booher, John and Isabella (Ryan) Large and Jacob and Sarah (Krug) Kitzmiller. Her paternal grandparents were George Wellington Graham and Julia A. Saint.
Theodore was found in the 1910 census for Salem Twp, Carroll Co, IL as age 8. He was listed in the 1920 census for Salem Twp as age 17. He was listed as age 28 in the 1930 census for Salem Twp living with his parents and worlking as a clerk in an grain elevator. He was a graduate of Lake Forest College, north of Chicago.
His obituary appeared in a Mt. Carroll newspaper Dec. 27, 1981 p. 4: "Theodore Colehour Sr., former fire chief, dies. Former Mount Carroll fire chief and long-time businessman Theodore Colehour Sr., 79, died Friday afternoon, Dec. 25, in his home of an apparent heart attack. Mr. Colehour was in the feed business for many years and was a member of the Mount Carroll Volunteer Fire Department, serving as chief. He was born Jan., 13, 1902, in Mount Carroll, the son of Frederick H. and May (Coleman) Colehour. He married Jane Graham June 7, 1932 in Savanna. Surviving are his wife; one son, Ted Jr. of Mount Carroll; and seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, one brother and one sister. Funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Frank Funeral Home, Mount Carroll, with the Rev. Dana Martin, pastor of the- Mount Carroll Baptist Church, officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery, Mount Carroll. A memorial in his name has been established for the Campbell Center Gymnasium Fund."

He married Frances Clarissa Hoover in Freeport, Stephenson Co, IL, 2 June 1923. Frances was born in Elgin, Kane Co, IL 3 June 1900. (or possibly on 8 June) Frances was the daughter of Thornton Johnson Hoover and Elizabeth Agnes McCormick.
Frances died 4 May 1987 in Tucson, Pima Co, AZ, at 86 years of age. Her body was interred in Mt. Carroll, Carroll Co, IL, Oak Hill Cemetery.
Clarence was listed in the 1910 census for Salem Twp, Carroll Co, IL as age 7. He was found in the 1920 census for Salem Twp as age 16.

She married Spencer Henderson 22 February 1923. Spencer was born in Woodland Twp, Carroll Co, IL 2 August 1898. Spencer was the son of George Henderson and Mary Randecker. Spencer died circa 1977 in Warm Springs, Alameda Co, CA. His body was interred in Stanton, Orange Co, CA, Holy Sepulcher Cemetery.
Spencer was listed as age 23 in the 1930 census for Mt. Carroll, Carroll Co, IL living with his wife and daughter in the household of his father-in-law. He was working as a trucker doing general hauling.
Kathleen was raised by the Colehours but never officially adopted. She was found in the 1910 and 1920 censuses for Mt. Carroll, Carroll Co, IL living with her adoptive parents. In the 1930 census she was living with her husband and daughter in the household of her parents at Mt. Carroll.

He married Ruth A. Petty in Freeport, Stephenson Co, IL, 17 December 1921. Ruth was born in Carroll Co, IL 7 August 1898. Ruth was the daughter of Albert Elmer Petty and Mary Humbert. Robert was raised by the Colehours but never officially adopted. He was found in the 1910 and 1920 censuses for Mt. Carroll, Carroll Co, IL living with his adoptive parents. He may also have been the Robert Colehour, age 21, found in the 1920 census for Freeport, Stephenson Co, IL as a laborer. He later became a farmer.

He married Kathleen Bernadette Bragdon in Peoria, Peoria Co, IL, 26 October 1932. Kathleen was born in Rock Island, Rock Island Co, IL 16 February 1910. Kathleen was the daughter of Benjamin T. Bragdon and Mary A. Ferry. Kathleen died 16 November 1996 in Davenport, Scott Co, IA, at 86 years of age. Her body was interred 21 November 1996 in Rock Island, Rock Island Co, IL, Calvary Cemetery.
From a Rock Island, Illinois newspaper: "Kathleen B. Colehour, 86, of 23 Brittany Lane, Rock Island, died Saturday, Nov. 16, 1996, at Kahl Home, Davenport. Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island, where she was a member. Burial is in Calvary Cemetery, Rock Island. Visitation is 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Wheelan Funeral Home, Rock Island, with a rosary recited at 3:30 by the Altar and Rosary Society of St. Pius, where she was a member, and a wake service at 7. The former Kathleen Bragdon was born Feb 16, 1910, in Rock Island, the daughter of Ben and Mary Ferry Bragdon. She married Morris Colehour Oct. 26, 1932, in Peoria. He died Feb. 20, 1984. She graduated from the former Villa de Chantel School for Girls, Rock Island, and received a bachelor degree in education from Marycrest College, Davenport. She was employed as an elementary school teacher for 19 years having taught six years at the former Sacred Heart School, Rock Island, and 13 years at Longfellow Elementary School, Rock Island, retiring in 1974. She was a member of Illinois Teachers Association and Illinois Retired Teachers Association. Survivors include a son, Peter Colehour, Rock Island; sisters and a brother-in-law, Mary Wulf, Rock Island, Phyllis Spring, Naples, Fla., and Patricia and William Quaintance, Moline"
Morris was listed as age four in the 1910 census for Moline, Rock Island Co, IL living with his mother in the household of his maternal grandparents. He was listed as Morris S. Cole, age 14, in the 1920 census for Rock Island, IL living with his mother and step-father. From a Rock Island, Illinois newspaper: "Funeral services for Morris S. Colehour, 78, of 23 Brittany Lane, Rock Island, who died yesterday, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church, Rock Island. The Rev. J. Eugene Kane, pastor, will officiate, and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Rock Island. Visitation will be 2:30 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Wheelen Funeral Home, Rock Island, where a wake service will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Pallbearers will be William Quantance, Carl Wulf, Stephen Spring, Richard Detwiler, Gerald Eilers, and David Van Lauwe. Mr. Colehour was born Aug. 21, 1905, in Moline, the son of George and Julia Rosenfield Colehour. He attended schools in Moline and Rock Island, and was a graduate of Rock Island High School and Augustana College. He married Kathleen Bragdon Oct. 26, 1932, in Peoria. He had been employed at the Rock Island Arsenal for 21 years, retiring in 1973. Prior to that he served in the Army during World War II in the Orient, and during the Korean War he served in Korea. He retired as a Major in the Signal Corps in 1952. In earlier years he had worked for the Davenport Times for 10 years. He was a charter member of the Mill Creek Country Club and a former member of the Rock Island County Historical Society. He also was a member of the above church. Surviving are his wife and a son, Brother Peter B. of the Pecos Benedictine Monastery, Pecos, N.M."

He married Irma Dorthea Lower in Lanark, Carroll Co, IL, 12 July 1934. Irma was born in Lanark, Carroll Co, IL 15 September 1914. Irma is the daughter of Jacob F. Lower and Mina Michel. James was listed as age 7/12 in the 1910 census for Salem Twp, Carroll Co, IL. He was listed as age 10 in the 1920 census for Mt. Carroll, Carroll Co, IL. He was listed as age 19 in the 1930 census for Mt. Carroll living with his parents.
