C. S. Dame's 1918 Cadillac, driving down a road south of Lanark. C.S. Dame was a prominent person in Lanark, and is mentioned in the History of Carroll County, Kett, 1878 on Page 450 as being a farmer & stock dealer.
Daniel W. Dame, his father, has a huge section on the same page. The Dame family home was a huge block square property in Lanark, with a 3-story
Victorian house and barn that is still there and in pristine condition. Harvey Loomer Downing III, Uncle of
Alice Horner, lived in it for about 15 years when he first retired. Photo from Alice Horner
The "Fresh Air Kiddies" were kids sent out from Chicago, or at least some inner city, to stay on
farms for the summer. This was done through churches or some other social agency. These two were
staying near the Horner home, maybe around 1912-20. Photo from Alice Horner
