Bert Gordon Buckwalter, volunteered in the army Co E 47th Inf. 4th Div. Overseas: Apr. 1918 and demobilized Aug. 1919. He participated in: Aisne-Marne Operation, Vesle Sector Champagne, St-Mihiel Operation, Meuse-Argonne Operation, in the Army of Occupation in Germany Bert was the son of Rev. John Logan & Clara Belle (Gordon) Buckwalter and was married to Hazel Mae Yenney 28 Jan. 1920 in Carroll Co. IL. They were farmers in Woodland Twp. Bert was born 27 Mar. 1884 and died 25 Oct. 1943 at Hines Hospital, Cook Co. IL. Hazel was born 16 Aug. 1902 in Dodge Co NE. daughter of William Jasper & Lillie May (Roberts) Yenney. Her death occured 27 Aug. 1986 in Clinton Co. IA. Both are buried in Oak Hill Cemetery in Carroll Co. IL. They were the parents of John William, Orpha Arlene, Clara Lillian & Wilma Pearl
