The Shannon Band came in for a share of glory, and on every hand were heard compliments as to their playing and gentlemanly deportment. The band played stronger then the Monmouth Band of 24 pieces and they played as smoothly as Spencer's Peoria Band or the famous Canton Military Band both of which were there and against which the Shannon Boys were pitted. Every time Mt. Carroll won the Band played good and strong and the cheering was great whenever they went on the street their appearance was greeted by applause. They were great stuff and everyone said so. The boys were all pleased with the trip and extended many thanks to Mt. Carroll Hose Company for their kindness.
