A chaotic courtroom demonstration here four months ago resulted in a contempt of court conviction today for a Savanna chiropractor and his wife.
E.H. Gohlson, originally charged with violating state medical practices was sentenced to 10 days in jail and fined $250. His wife Clara also was fined $250. Circuit Judge George C. Dixon imposed the penalties.
When Gohlson and his wife first went into court 500 students from the Palmer School of Chiropractic, Davenport, invaded the hearing. Gohlson and his wife are graduates of the school which is not recognized in Illinois.
States Attorney Lawrence Smith moved that both Gohlsons be cited for contempt because of the demonstration.
Judge Dixon who also presided when the demonstrations came off said when he imposed the sentences: The demonstration was an attempt to incriminate the court and jury. Both defendents were aware that the demonstration was being arranged and should have discouraged it.
