"The Mississippi River is one of the natural highways or flyways traveled by water fowl on their semi annual flight to and from the frozen north Further west is another natural flyway - the chain of the Dakota and Minnesota lakes and thence the Missouri and Platte Rivers. The flyway connecting the most water generally gets the largest feathered travel. This season the lakes and rivers all over the west are very low and shooting poor.
The picture shows five members of the Savanna gun club - Dr. B.b. Hyler, M.W. Dupuis , C. W. Canine, Dr. W.B. Johnson and C. D. Crouse together with the game killed on a few days outing on an isalnd in the Mississippi near Savanna Illinois nearly 100 ducks and a magificent swan a bird rarely killed in these waters. "
