BARBARA A. (SMITH) BUTTS , age 75, of Lanark died on Saturday, October 15, 2005 in her home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 19, 2005 at Trinity Lutheran Church of Lanark, with Rev. Arthur Stees, interim pastor officiating. Burial will be in the Lanark Cemetery. Visitations will be held on Tuesday, from 4-7 p.m. at the Russell-Frank Funeral Home in Lanark. A memorial has been established in her memory in lieu of flowers.

Barbara was born on December 4, 1929, the daughter of Jacob Henry and Ethel Marie (Rogers) Smith. She was a 1947 graduate of Lanark High School. On September 21, 1950 Barbara married Edwin C. Butts. She was a retired secretary. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She restored antiques and also, loved camping and gardening.

Barbara is survived by her husband, Edwin of Lanark; two sons, Lawrence Steven (Sharon) Butts of Bloomington and Bradley Edwin Butts of Bloomington; two grandsons, Justin Michael Butts of Bloomington and Jody Matthew Butts of Bloomington; three brothers, Franklin Smith of Mt. Carroll, Fay "Bud" (Alvera) Smith of Lanark and Duane (Patricia) Smith of Lanark; many nieces and nephews. Her parents, one brother, and five sisters, precede Barbara in death.

ELLIS EUGENE BUTTS , of Lanark, a self-employed carpenter, died Saturday, March 27, 1976 after an apparent heart attack while driving a truck at the rear of Stees Shoppe in Lanark. A veteran of World War II, he was a member of the American Legion. He also was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church here. Born February 3, 1928 at Lanark, he was the son of Paul W. and Delma (Palmer) Butts. He married Betty Cunningham August 13, 1949 at Mount Carroll. Surviving are his widow; two daughters, Miss Donna Jean of Savanna and Mrs. Lyle (Dolores) Smith of Lanark; two grandchildren; his mother of Villas of Shannon Nursing Home; and three brothers, Paul, Edwin, and Verle, all of Lanark. His father and two brothers preceded him in death. Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in Frank Funeral Home here. The Rev. Merle Hawbecker will officiate. Burial will be in Lanark Cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 9 tonight at the funeral home.

EVA (YENNEY) BUTTS , of Hermiston (Oregon) died on Jan. 14, at the Good Shepherd Medical center in Hermiston at the age of 86. She was born on July 18, 1920 in Woodland Township, Carroll County, Ill., to Willie and Lillie Roberts Yenney. Eva was raised and attended school in Carroll County. She married George P. Widmar in 1937 and they lived in Hanover, Ill. George Widmar died in 1947. Eva later married George Butts in 1952. They moved to Hermiston in 1955 where she has lived since.George Butts died in 1960. Eva worked at Lamb Weston in Hermiston in the 1970s for several years. She enjoyed cooking, canning, and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of the Hermiston Eagles Lodge # 2909 for more than 50 years.

She is survived by her daughter, Darla Terry, Hermiston; sons, Darwin Widmar, Hermiston, and George Butts, Bothell, Wash.; sister, Elenor Conley, Savanna, Ill.; eight grandchildren, Darin, George, David, Vonda, Darice, Daryl, Rhane, and Robbin; 15 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Eva was preceded in death by her husbands; grandson, Dana Terry; and nine siblings. A private burial will be held at the Willamette National Cemetery, Portland. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 20, at 1 p.m., at the Hermiston Eagles Lodge #2909 at 160 N.W. Second St., Hermiston with a celebration gathering to follow. Those who wish may make contributions in Eva's memory to a charity of their choice. Burns Mortuary of Hermiston, Oregon is in charge of the arrangements.

KENNETH L. BUTTS , 8, died Saturday afternoon, June 25, 1938 at 4 o’clock at the home of his parents, following a several weeks’ illness. Kenneth Leroy Butts, son of Paul and Delma (Palmer) Butts, was born May 23, 1930 in Fair Haven Township, Carroll County, Illinois. He is survived by his parents, three brothers, Edwin, Ellis, and Paul, Jr.; his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Palmer, all of Lanark; and his paternal grandfather, Ferd Butts of Loran. Funeral plans are incomplete but services probably will be held Tuesday afternoon at the Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. Walter E. Koepf officiating. Burial will be made in Lanark Cemetery.

PATRICIA A. (CATER) BUTTS - 82, of Rock Falls, Ill., formerly of Princeton, died Thursday, Nov. 22, 2007, at her home. She was born on May 17, 1925, in Princeton, Ill., the daughter of Orville and Gladys (Jackson) Cater. She married Leland S. Butts on Aug. 25, 1957, in Princeton, Ill. Together they raised three children and farmed in Princeton and Milledgeville, Ill., until her husband's death on Nov. 27, 1990. Surviving are her children, JoAnn (Peter) Gibson of Santa Cruz, Calif., Lee Butts and Larry Butts, both of Rock Falls, Ill.; and her two sisters, Shirley Coates and Carol Shettel, both of Princeton, Ill. She was preceded in death by her parents. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 12 noon Saturday, Dec. 1, 2007, at the McDonald Funeral Home in Sterling, Ill. Funeral services will be at the funeral home at 12 noon, with the Rev. Jason Borton officiating and a luncheon to follow. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. in Bethel Cemetery in Milledgeville.

PAUL W. BUTTS - Funeral services for Paul W. Butts, 43, of Shannon, who died at 3:30 a.m. Wednesday (3 Feb. 1943) in his home will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Trinity Lutheran church, Lanark, the pastor, Rev. T. B. Hersch, D.D., officiating. Burial will be in the local cemetery. Paul Butts, son of Ferdinand and Annie Butts, was born June 13, 1899, in Brainard, Minn. He married Delmar Palmer, who survives. Also surviving are four sons, Edwin, Ellis, Junior and Verel, his father, of Lena, and a brother, Frank, living north of Mt.Carroll.
