109 Attend Puterbaugh-Butterbaugh Reunion August 1929

The descendants of John Butterbaugh who came to Cherry Grove township from Franklin County, Pa., in 1843, held their first reunion at Point Rock, Mr. Carroll on Sunday, Aug. 18, 1929. This reunion was sponsored by Mr. and Mrs. Forest Hawk and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Truman.

W. H. Puterbaugh of Lanark gave and address of welcome, A. B. Puterbaugh of Milledgeville then took charge of a short business meeting. It was decided to have an annual reunion of the descendants of John Butterbaugh, who were Henry B. Puterbaugh, Jacob Butterbaugh, David Puterbaugh, Samuel Butterbaugh, Martin Butterbaugh, Elizabeth (Betsy) Sheller and Mary Elliot. The meeting for next year is to be held at Point Rock Park at Mt. Carroll on the third Sunday in June. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year: President, A. B. Puterbaugh of Milledgeville; Vice President, Harry Butterbaugh, Lanark; Sec-Treas., Mrs. Catherine Lutz, Lanark. The officers appointed the following committees: Membership - Roy Butterbauugh, Lanark, Sadie Puterbaugh, Lanark, Eva Royer, Lanark. Program- Forest Hawk, Lanark, Florence Truman, Lanark, Evelyn Zuck, Lanark.

The only family with four living generations was that of Mrs. Ellen Hawk, they being Mrs. Hawk, Mrs. Cora Reeves, Mrs. Charles Dyslin and Ireta Dyslin. Frank Puterbaugh of Lanark was the oldest memeber, age 78 years, and a nine month old baby girl of the Burkholders was the youngest memeber present.

Annual Puterbaugh and Butterbaugh Gathering Attended by Ninety Seven

The 12th annual Puterbaugh-Butterbaugh reunion was held Sunday at Old Mill Park, Savanna, with 97 relatives and friends in attendance. During the business meeting which followed the picnic dinner the following officers were elected: President, Harry Butterbaugh, of Lanark; vice president, Dan Robinson, of Morrison, and secretary and treasurer, Dorothy Burkholder, of Lanark. Three marriages, two births and six deaths were reported.

The 1941 reunion will be held at Pines state park, near Polo.

Puterbaugh Family Gathers Sunday for Fifteenth Reunion

The 15th annual Puterbaugh reunion was held Sunday, June 20 at Lawrence partk, Sterling. Mrs. Loren Alber of Milledgeville was elected president and Mrs. Kenneth Walters of Polo secretary and treasurer. S. P. (typo, should be F. P.) Puterbaugh of Sterling was the oldest member present and Elaine Michaels, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Michaels of Lanark was the youngest.

There were four marriages during the year. (Only three listed) Robert Hower and Phyllis Burkholder. Jane Phalen and Don Harris of Dixon and Robert Lego and Shirley Fox of Lanark. Four births, daughters were born to Mr. and Mrs. Robert Poffenberger, Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Burkshire, Mr. and Mrs. Galen Barnhart and Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Michaels.

Puterbaugh - Butterbaugh 17th Annual Reunion

The seventeenth annual reunion of the Puterbaugh-Butterbaugh families was a large one. Those present at this family picinic were Mr. and Mrs. Dan Robinson of Morrison; Carrie Trostle, Addie Stitzel, Arthur Lotz, Leo, Kathryn, Duane and Marylee Lotz, all of Lanark; Etta Wolf, Roy Wolf, W. Harlan, Catherine, Roger, Donald, and William H. Puterbaugh, all of Sterling; Oliver, Mildred and Elaine Michael of Forreston; Dora Mills of Polo; Mrs. Clarence Dambman and Nadine Dambman and Delores Fields of Milledgeveille; Earl C. Burkholder and Hazel and Joanne Burkholder of Mt. Carroll; Eva and Russell Royer of Lanark; W.H. Puterbaugh, Mrs. Myrtle Martin, Mrs. Etta Schoen, George J. and Cora Corbett of Lanark.

Ruth Stattler and Percy Finnifrock constitute the one couple in the family to be married during the last year. Births were Marcus J., son of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Mowen; Garry Earl Hower, son of Mr. and MRs. Robert Hower; James Stephen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ren/Ben Puterbaugh; a daughter to Mr. and Mrs. Donald Buss; a son to Mr. and Mrs. Emerson Iske; a son Lester, to Mr. and Mrs. Gene Litwiller. (dates, were included, I omitted them).

Boys in the service: Sgt. Russell Mowen; Sgt. Robert Hower; Robert Messner, Donald Messner and Edwin Puterbaugh. The ranks of the last named three were not known.

Deaths since the last reunion were: Frank Puterbaugh, Oct. 1944, at the age of 94 years; Pvt. Donald Weber, a paratrooper, killed in action: and Clyde Butterbaugh, July 1944.
