The 1980 Spencer-Benham Reunion was held at Montmorency School, south of Rock Falls, Illinois, on Sunday, June 29. Ninety-one family members and friends gathered for a delicious pot luck dinner. Ralph Witt, President, called the meeting to order. The secretary’s and treasurer’s report were read and approved. Vada Waites moved that the 1981 reunion be held at Montmorency School. The motion was seconded and unanimously approved.

Mrs. Grace Spencer Peterson of Racine, Wisconsin, was awarded a gift as the family member traveling the farthest. Mrs. Alta Druce, our eldest member, continued tradition by presenting a silver spoon to the youngest member present, Tasha Jo Sutton. Tasha Jo is the child of John and Kayla Sutton, Kayla is the daughter of Joan and Wayne Spencer and granddaughter of Bertha Johnson and Adelbert Spencer.

No new or old business was brought up. Doris Spencer moved to retain the current officers for another year. The motion was seconded and passed. These officers are: Ralph Witt, President, Ron Spencer, Vice President, Judy Witt, Secretary-Treasurer.

The idea of entertainment by family members was discussed and members are encouraged to plan entertainment for 1981.

Games and ice cream rounded out the day.
