1986 Spencer-Benham Reunion
Contributed and transcribed by Judy Witt

On Sunday, June 22nd, 1986, about 51 relatives and friends met at Nims Park in Rock Falls for the 89th consecutive Spencer-Benham Reunion. Doris Spencer, president, called the meeting to order and led the Pledge of Allegiance. Th singing of God Bless America, which was led by Don Peterson, was followed by a prayer. Everyone enjoyed a pot luck dinner.

The meeting was called to order. The secretary’s and treasurers reports were read and approved. There was no new or old business.

Myrtle (Spencer) Spencer was the most cherished (oldest) member and was presented with a trophy. Myrtle presented the spoon to the youngest member Justin Paul Lehman, son of Darla (Keefer) Lehman, grandson of Lois Keefer. Farthest traveled was Grace Peterson of Racine, Wisconsin.

There was no change in officers: Doris Spencer, President; Maxine Spencer, Vice-President; Kim Spencer, Secretary-Treasurer; Dorothy Bruns and Jill Williams, Games Committee. Next reunion will be held at Nims Park in Rock Falls, Illinois the Sunday after Father’s Day so more friends and relatives can attend, June 28.

The meeting was closed and lots of games were enjoyed—bingo and raffles for adults, egg hunt and scavenger hunt for kids. Ice cream was enjoyed by all.
