1987 Spencer-Benham Reunion 90th Consecutive Reunion On Sunday, June 28th, 1987, about 66 relatives and friends met at Nims Park in Rock Falls for the Spencer-Benham Reunion. President Doris Spencer called the meeting to order and led the Pledge of Allegiance. The singing of God Bless America, which was led by LeRoy Barney Hart, was followed by a prayer. Everyone enjoyed a pot luck dinner and a wonderful day.

The meeting was called to order. The secretary’s and treasurer’s reports were read and approved. There was no old or new business.

Myrtle (Spencer) Spencer was the most cherished (oldest) member among the group and was presented with a trophy. Youngest member present was Jacob Ryan Williams, son of Dennis and Jill Williams, grandson of Glenn and Dorothy Bruns, great grandson of Art and Hazel (Spencer) Bruns. Farthest traveled was LeRoy Barney Hart, Salinas, California who traveled around 2,200 miles.

We had people who have never attended a reunion: Bob and Jackie Walker.

There was no change in officers: Doris Spencer, President; Maxine Spencer, Vice-President; Kim Spencer, Secretary-Treasurer. Lois Keefer is Games Chairman. It was agreed to hold the 1988 reunion at Nims Park in Rock Falls, Illinois. It was agreed to get trophies and ribbons for next year’s games. Also, it was agreed to send the minutes of this year’s reunion to our relatives who could not be with us.

The meeting was closed. Games for the kids and Bingo were enjoyed by everyone. Raffles were donated by Judy Witt, Maxine Spencer, and Judy Spencer. Ice cream was enjoyed by all on this hot day.
