1988 Spencer-Benham Reunion
91st Consecutive Reunion Contributed and transcribed by Judy Witt
On Sunday, June 26th, 1988, about 63 relatives and friends met at Nims Park in Rock Falls for the 91st consecutive Spencer-Benham Reunion. President Doris Spencer called the meeting to order and led the Pledge of Allegiance. The singing of God Bless America, which was led by Lois Jean Keefer, was followed by a prayer. Everyone enjoyed a pot luck dinner on this hot day.
The meeting was called to order. The minutes were read and approved. There was no old or new business.
The oldest member was Myrtle (Spencer) Spencer, 86 years old. The youngest member present was Abbey Deann Pate, parents Kathy and Lonnie Pate, grandparents Norma and Bob McCoy, great grandparents Floyd and Myrtle (Spencer) Spencer. Farthest traveled was Dan Witt from Saugus, California.
Officers were elected: President: Doris Spencer, Vice-President; Barb Henson, Secretary and Treasurer: Kim Spencer. Games Chairman is Ron Spencer.
It was agreed to hold the reunion on June 25th, 1989 at Nims Park in Rock Falls, Illinois. The collection was collected by Ed Scykes. The meeting was closed and games, bingo, and baseball were enjoyed. Ice cream was enjoyed by everyone.
