Today announcements are being received of the marriage of Joseph J. Delp of Lanark and
Miss Irma Virginia Schoen, of Mt. Carroll.
The young people had kept their secret well and the announcement of the nuptials will no doubt be a surprise to their friends. The ceremony was performed in Freeport last evening at 5 o’clock. The young people were accompanied to that city by Russel Rahn and Miss Alice Hinebaugh of Lanark. They returned immediately after the ceremony and this morning the bride and groom left for Chicago on the early train where they will visit a few days with the bride’s sister, Mrs. Frank Klosa, and on their return will make Mt. Carroll their home, residing with Mrs. Delp’s father.
Mr. and Mrs. Delp are worthy of the best of congratulations from their friends, and worthy of the best that life can bestow. The groom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. George Delp of Lanark, he coming from a most estimable family. He is a young man of the best of attributes. He is holding a responsible situation as accountant for the C.M. & St. P. Railway at Savanna and will continue in this capacity. His bride is the youngest daughter of George Schoen, one of Mt. Carroll’s business men. She is a young lady who has spent her entire life in this city. She is a graduate of the city schools in the class of ‘22. Completing her school education, she continued to reside at home, presiding over the home which was made desolate by the death of the wife and mother six years ago. Faithfully had she filled this place. And it is a source of gratification to her father that she will remain in the home with her husband. She is a young lady of much talent, a pleasant, agreeable girl, and one who possesses many friends. All will join in the wish that her future life may be a happy one. The Mirror-Democrat joins with friends in well wishes for Mr. and Mrs. Delp.
