Oct. 26 – On our way to Mt. Carroll via Fulton, Thomson & Savanna. Bot dinner at Fulton, 25 cts. Over night at J. Haags. Weather Misty all day.

Oct. 27 – Mt. Carroll Went to parsonage in Mt. Carroll. Met Wife and little children at Depot from Port Byron. Fare 2.05. Dined at Bro. Piles. Bot Stove pipe at Campbells, 3 units 30 cts; Bread 25; Beef, 20; Peaches 20; Clothesline, 27; Kerosene, 30; Broom 25. Weather rainy in AM.

Oct. 28 – Center Hill 10 ½ AM. Dined at Bro. Slake Millers. Geo. Musteenwind with me to Savanna, where I held Short Service at 3 PM. Went home. Supped at Geo. Mestins. Text: 1 Cor. 4. 14.

Oct. 29 – At parsonage all day. Bot at Carvell: glass & panes & putty, 80 cts. Lantern oil, Lantern Signal, 25 cts. Small plates 5 = 40.

Oct. 30 – White washed & did other things. Bot parlor Sofa from Mrs. Womer, $5.00. Nails 1 lbs, 8 cts. Bot lime 10 cts. Weather fair.

Oct. 31 - White washed. Bot of Lichen & Cotter: Sugar & Coffee, 1.50. Weather fair.

Nov. 1 – Bot 1 qt. Milk 6 cts. Visited Rev. E. G. Smith. Weather Snowy all day.

Nov. 2 – Weather Snowy in AM. Bot Lard 2 6/16 [lbs]. 14 = 33. Weather fair in PM. At home all day.

Nov. 3 – Went to town to have boots mended, 40 cts. Weather tolerably fair.

Nov. 4 – Woodland 10 ½. Text: St. Luke 10. 42. Dined at S. Grimms. Went with Rev. E. G. Smith to Strawberry Hill and heard him Preach. Then went home. Weather rained in pm.

Nov. 5 – At home all day. Weather bad, rainy & Snowy.

Nov. 6 – Went to Bro. Bowers. Made 6 gals. Sour krout. Got butter & lard and meat & Straw. Weather fair.

Nov. 7 – Was at home all day. Weather Snowy. Stormed all day.

Nov. 8 – Was at home all day. Wrote letter to B. Bender at Brandon & Rev. W. T. Stark. Weather Snowed & rained nearly all day.

Nov. 9 – Went with part of family to S. Grimms & also to his fathers on a visit. They gave us a sack of corn, Butter & lard. Weather fair.

Nov. 10 – Was at home all day. Weather rainy.

Nov. 11 – Center Hill at 10 ½. Text: Acts 24. 16. Elected Geo. Folrath Steward. Dined at J. Haars. Savanna at 3 PM. Luke 10. 42. Prayer Meeting at evening. Over night at A. Coats. Weather fair.

Nov. 12 – Visited Sister Airhart who is sick. Called at J. Haars, Geo. Musters. Weather fair.

Nov. 13 – Was at home. Weather bad with rain.

Nov. 14 – At home all day. Weather rainy.

Nov. 15 – Went to Bro. Markleys. Called on Jno. Pettys and Sister Margelleth. Weather fair.

Nov. 16 – Visited at Father Oberheims & at Bro. A. Golnach. Weather fair.

Nov. 17 – At home all day. Weather fair.

Nov. 18 – Bro. Crumanns accompanied me to Mount Fern. Text: Almost Persuaded. On account of bad roads didn’t go to Dutch Hollow. Dined at Jas. Eislirs. Went home. Attended Temperance Meeting at M. E. Church in the evening. Weather fair.

Nov. 19 – Called at Jas. Pettys. Visited at Jno. Folraths. Went home. Weather fair.

Nov. 20 – Weather rained in the evening. Went to Jas. Pettys to see Sister Ella Oberheim who supposed that she must die at or before 1 AM. Held prayer Meeting. Some renewed their Covenants with God. Stayed over night.

Nov. 21 – Called on father Haynes. Then went home. Weather rained all day.

Nov. 22 – At home all day. Weather fair.

Nov. 23 – Visited at Jas. Everharts, Geo. Lyons & Father Oberheims. Weather fair.

Nov. 24 – Was at home all. Weather fair.

Nov. 25 – Center Hill. Text: 1st Tim. 6. 12. Dined at Geo. Holys. Savanna at night. Text: Phil. 4. 22. Over night at L. Gunns. Weather rained at evening and night..

Nov. 26 – Visited at Bro. Allens. Dined. Visited at Mr. Shadel. Mrs. S. is quite sick. Called at Henry Folraths. Weather rained all day. Went home. Roads very muddy.

Nov. 27 – At home all day. Weather snowed & rained. Recd $7.00 from S. B. Richardson.

Nov. 28 – Called on foot at A. Folraths. Called also at Naches Oberheims. Sent $1.00 to Cynoser. Bot Salaraths, 15. Weather Snowed and very blustering.

Nov. 29 – Attended Thanksgiving Service in M. E. Church by Rev. Soul. At evening attended union Prayer Meeting in Same Church. Weather cold & blustering.

Nov. 30 – Went to M. Markley. Then visited Geo. Folrath. Went home. Weather cold.

Dec. 1 – At home all day. Weather cold.

Dec. 2 – Mount Zion. Text: Acts 27. 24. Father Clause, S. Grimm went with me to Dutch Hollow. The roads being so bad we didn’t get there until 7 PM. People had left the Church, no meeting. Over night at P. Bishops. Weather fair.

Dec. 3 – Called on Geo. Schlafer & A. Clays. At 2 PM held business service in Bishops Store. Geo. Schlafer was elected steward & A. Clay, leader. They paid 1.50 moving expenses. At evening preached in Church. Text: Is. 35. 8. Over night at A. Clays. Weather rained at night.

Dec. 4 – We went home. Weather squally with rain. Present from S. Grimms 30 cts.

Dec. 5 – At home. Visited at S. Smiths. Bot ½ cord of wood from Weather rained.Mr. Sheldon, $2.00. Bot Kerosene, 1.30; Stove elbows, 50; Line Snap, 10; PO Stamps, 25. Weather snowy.

Dec. 6 – Was at home all day. Weather cold. Bot ½ cord wood, 2.00. It was hauled by S. Smith

Dec. 8 –Paid Miller for Mending buggy wheel, 2.25. Went to father Cislers. Got butter, Hay &Dried apples, present 50. Weather fair.

Dec. 13 –Worked at home. Also Wife & I went to A. Folraths. Got two sacks flour, Paid PO Box rent until Apr. 1st, 87. Weather fair.

Dec. 17 – Went home. Took 2 lbs butter from S. Grimms.

Dec. 18 –Trustee Meeting at 1 PM. They will not come. Weather rainy.

Dec. 19 – At home all day. Weather Misty.

Dec. 20 – United in holy Bonds Mr. J. C. Kesler and Miss Lizzy Meister. Recd $5.00. Weather fair.

Dec. 21 – Returned License. Visited Sheriffs office & The Herald. Weather fair & warm. Lecture by Dr. Shimer, Plantation of the Lord, 10 cts.

Dec. 22 – Bot suit of Clothes for Charley at Beavers, $4.40. Weather very rainy.

Dec. 23 – Center Hill. Text: Ps. 139. 23 & 24. Dined at J. Harr. Left my team & walked to Savanna. Text: Is. 35. 8. Over night at Bro. Mitchells. Weather rained.

Jan. 1 – Center Hill Meeting Spent this day with my family at Rev. W. R. Smiths. United Mr. M. Munsinger with Miss Lizzie Smith at night. Rev. W. R. Smith preached in Chapel. Over night at Jno. Fulraths. Weather fair.

Jan. 2 – Went home with my family. Wm Fulrath took us. Sent 2.00 dols to Dayton for Mrs. Jacob Flaharty. Returned to Center Hill. Rev. Murry preached tonight. Over night at Henry Fulraths. Weather fair.

Jan. 3 – Visited at Gus Holys & over night. Weather rained nearly all day.

Jan. 4 – Text at Chapel: Pro. 11.30 Last clause. Dined at V. Bigglehaupt. Rev. Eichanlaufor preached. Over night at B. Bowers. Weather rather fair & warm.

Jan. 5 – Called on _ Croft & supped there. Held Meeting in Chapel. Took 2B P8 & exhorted. 1 came forward for prayers.

Jan. 6 – Went home on foot. Weather fair.

Jan. 7 – Returned to Center Hill in PM. Preached at Chapel. Text: Luke 12. 31. 1. Religion is the first of importance. 2. It is the best for young folks enjoyment. 3. No danger of backsliding. Over night at J. Branthavers. Weather Misty. Roads bad.

Jan. 18 – Love feast by Rev. Smith. Elders Sermon by Elder. 96 Communed. 9 joined in church fellowship. Dined at J. Branthavens. Administered holy Sac. to old father Bowers at 3 PM. Rev. Smith preached at night. Over night at Hurshmillers.

Jan. 19 – We were taken home by Geo. Hurshmiller. Settled with – Liddles Shoe Store, 2.50; Auction Store, 16.75; Lichty & Rinewalt, 14.75. Went to Center Hill. Over night at Geo. Musters. Weather rained. Had no Meeting. Supped at E. Tuckeys.

Jan. 20 – Called at E. Tuckeys, at H. Richardsons, at C. Yeagers, and at Jno. Fulraths. Held meeting at Chapel at night. Text: Prodigal Son. Over night at Jas. Pettys. Weather fair.

Jan. 21 – Visited at Jas. Petteys. Visitd & dined at Mrs. Banthavers. Called & Supped at Geo. Musters. Text in Chapel: Prodigal Son. Over night at Geo. Holys. Weather rainy.

Jan. 22 – Was at Geo. Holys until 11 AM. Then visited & dined at C. Croft. At 2 PM Held prayer Meeting at Chapel. Supped at H. Richardsons. Sermon Prodigal Son. Over night at D. Metz. Weather fair but Snowy.

Jan. 23 – Visited at P. Nickles. Called Jn. Hurshmiller. Held prayer Meeting at Chapel. Supped at J. W. Stakemillers. Text: Prodigal Son. Went home, arrived there at 11 ½ PM. Weather fair.

Jan. 24 – Paid J. C. Rindellar by cash $2.00. Was at home. Was presented with 1 set Harness by J. Petty; 1 Over Coat, Jas. Petty; 1 pr. Boots, Jake Markley.

Jan. 25 – Held service at Center Hill at 10 ½ AM. Dined at B. Bowers & Supped there. Morning & evening services Based on the Prodigal Son. Over night at M. Markleys. Weather fair until night then it stormed.

Jan. 26 – At M. Markleys until 1 PM. Then was taken by him at Center Hill prayer meeting. Supped at C. Yeagers. Service at Chapel. Text: Heb. 11. 27. 1. We must look at life as God looks at it. 2. We prepare for eternity in this life. Weather fair. Over night at J. Haynes.

Jan. 27 – Held meeting successfully at 10 AM in Chapel. Geo. & Gust Holy & family were reconciled. Prayer Meeting at 2 PM. At 4 PM a Meeting to reconcile Gust Holy & Jerry Elman also successful. Service at night in Chapel. Text: Parable of Barren Fig Tree. Over night at Dan Oberhaus. Weather fair.

Jan. 28 – At home. Was taken home by A. Fulrath. Weather fair.

Jan. 29 – At home all day. Weather rainy & sleety. Called on Rev. Phillips of the Baptist Church who has the Rev[ival]. Dr. Grans engaged to hold revival services in his church.

Jan. 30 – Took train at 12 M at Carroll to Freeport. ½ fare, 55 cts. Childrens cards, 15. P.O. Stamps, 10. Fare to Lana, 55. Walked to Jakut Brandts. Over night. Weather fair.

Jan. 31 – At J. Brandts until PM. Then visited and over night at Wm. Ausmans. Weather fair.

Feb. 1 – Kent Text: Eph. 4. 13. Dined at H. Smith. Willow Text: Heb. 9. 27. Over night at J. Ausmans. Weather fair.

Feb. 2 – Was taken by Frank Frachy to Eleroy where I took Train to Freeport, 35 cts; to Mt. Carroll, 55. Met Bro. B. Bender today for the first for a visit to me. Weather fair.

Feb. 3 - Was at home. Visited with brother Ben all day. Weather fair. Roads getting Some better. Snow fell Occasionally though.

Feb. 4 – Visited all day with brother Benjamin Bender. Health poor. Weather fair.

Feb. 5 – Saw Dr. Van P. who prescribed for me. Health poor. Bro. B. Bender started at 2.30 for Iowa. Weather fair. At home all day.

Feb. 6 – At home. Attended Rev. Graus meeting in PM & evening. Weather fair.

Feb. 7 – At home all day. Weather fair.

Feb. 8 – Woodland Text: Eph. 4. 103. Dined at Mr. McNamara. Supped at Jno. Fulraths. Text at Center Hill: Is. 35. 8 to end. Over night at Geo. Musters. Weather fair.

Feb. 9 – Was taken by Muster to the Pettys with my buggy. Dined there; in PM took my term [team?] home (& so forth) etc.

Feb. 10 – Went to D. Oberhaus. Got horses shod & other work done. Got Nelly Tubbs to wok for us. Weather very fair.

Feb. 11 – All day at home. Weather rained nearly all day.

Feb. 12 – Wife went to P. S. Grims. Called on Father Grims. Roads very muddy. Weather fair.

Feb. 13 - All day at home. Weather cold. Roads very rough.

Feb. 17 – In Co. with Father Sisler visited at widow Franks. Took 1 ½ bu. Potatoes from Katie Krender & went home. Weather rained in PM.

Feb. 18 – Protracted Meeting. Went to Woodland. Broke my buggy Spindles on Tuesday. Supped at S. Grims. Over night at Rev. E. G. Smiths. Text: Jn. 3. 21, etc. 1. Central Idea Prayer. 2. The essentials. Weather cold. Roads very rough.

Feb. 29 – Dr. Millers house burned at 8 ½ AM. Preached at Woodland at 10 ½. Text: Luke 13. 8,9. Text at night: Rev. 2. 4, 5. Dined at J. Markleys. Over night at Lou Meyers. Weather fair.

Mar. 1 – Visited at Wm. Mulford. Dined there. Fetched my team from Jos. Markleys – to S. Grims, Supped. Text: 1 Thess. 1. 5 to 7. 1. To Whom we should look for examples of piety. Went home. Weather fair.

Mar. 16 – In Co. with Jas. Riche went to M. Markleys. Dined at D. Oberhem. Got buggy fixed by D. Oberhem. Sent $5.00 to Western Iowa College. Sent to Dayton for Telescope for Mrs. M. Gerling. Weather fair.

Mar. 19 – At home all day. Weather fair. Death of John Bower, aged 70 yrs, 10 mos. Was born in Scherbach, Hesse, Darmstadt, Ger. In 1809. Emigrated to this Country in 1874.

Mar. 20 – Was at the funeral of John Bower. Rev. Eushenlouf Offtash. Assisted by me. Recd a compensation $2.00. Dined at B. Bowers. Over night at Wm. Wolfs. Weather fair.
