Lanark Grade School

Carroll County Illinois

Contributed by Alice Horner - Lanark Grade School 19' Fifth Grade

The only one I can identify is my aunt, Etta (Horner) Bowers.
She is the tall girl in the center of the second row who has her hair in knotted pigtails covered with ribbons on each side of her head. The reason there seems to be so many children in this class, compared to how few graduated in 1919, is that in this era many children did not go to school after the 8th grade.
