Marriage of

A beautiful August wedding in the Trinity Lutheran church Sunday [08/09/1953] joined in holy matrimony the lives of a popular young couple, Miss Lois Cheeseman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Cheeseman and Richard Deets, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arden Deets. The Rev. T. J. Jernigan read the double ring ceremony at 11:30 o’clock. White gladioli in the altar vases and candles formed the nuptial setting. A 10-minute prelude of nuptial music was played by Miss Dorothy Shipman. The soloist, Miss Faith Coleman sang, “Because,” preceding the ceremony and “The Lord’s Prayer,” while the couple knelt at the altar. The bride walked to the altar with her father who gave her hand in marriage. Tiny covered buttons extended below the tight fitting waist in the back and the long pointed sleeves were trimmed with rows of covered buttons.

Her fingertip veil fell from a Julienne cap surrounded by seed pearls. A rhinestone necklace was the bridegoom’s [sic] gift. She carried a white Bible on which was a white orchid with rosebuds knotted in white ribbon streamers. Miss Lois Eastabrooks was bridesmaid and wore a yellow ballerina length gown with a stole and carried a colonial bouquet of orchid gladioli. The bridegroom’s mother choose an aqua dress with pink accessories. Their corsages were pink carnations.

Mrs. Lyle Cheeseman, sister-in-law of the bride, registered the guests in the brides’ book. When the newlyweds left on a honeymoon the bride was wearing a nylon and orlon charcoal dress with white accessories and an orchid corsage.
