Marriage of
Marvin Wertz to Audrey Shipman
Bridal vows were solemnized for Miss Audrey Shipman, daughter of Mrs. A. M. Shipman and Marvin Wirtz, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Wirtz of McHenry, Saturday [09/20/1958] afternoon at the Milledgeville Brethren Church in the presence of the immediate families. Two large baskets of gladiolus formed the setting for the double ring ceremony read by the Rev. H. H. Rowsey at four o’clock. Nuptial music was played by Mrs. Harold Kelly. The attendants were Mrs. Richard Robinson, sister of the bride as matron of honor and Jack Wirtz, McHenry, brother of the bridegroom, best man. The bride wore a white knit suit, brown feather hat and brown accessories with a cymbidium orchid corsage completing her attire. Mrs. Robinson chose a royal blue jersey dress with matching feather hat. In her shoulder corsage were white pompons. The mothers of the bridal couple were attired in blue dresses and had pink carnation corsages.
A buffet luncheon was served to the bridal party and families immediately following the ceremony in the home of the bride’s mother by Mrs. Frank Cunningham and Mrs. Harold Real, cousins of the bride. The bride’s table was centered with a bouquet of blue and white asters in crystal bowl and flanked by blue tapers in crystal candle holders. The three tier wedding cake decorated in white and accented with blue forget-me-nots and topped with a wedding bell was served by Mrs. Philip Brown, Capron, sister of the bridegroom. The guests were registered by Mrs. Marvin Flynn, Mt. Carroll, sister of the bride. The couple left on a wedding trip to Wisconsin and upon their return will reside in Milledgeville. The new Mrs. Wirtz graduated from the Moline Public Hospital School of Nursing and is employed at the Community General Hospital in Sterling. Wirtz graduated from the University of Illinois and is employed as field man for the Kraft Foods Company.
