MELROSE IN A STIR

CLARK COUNTY HERALD

18-JAN-1893

Melrose is considerably stirred up.   There is suburban town near Chicago of the same name, but the post office has a different name and the mail for the two places gets mixed .   The post office department proposes to change both names, giving the name Melrose to the Chicago Suburb.   J. H. Edwards and P. F. Dodd were in town Saturday getting up a petition to allow their post office to retain its old name.   We see no reason why everything should give up to Chicago and hope our little Melrose may be able to hold the fort and keep its name.
